As I continue to grow and share my work with the world, I believe it’s important to look back at the milestones that have shaped my journey as an artist. One such moment was being selected to participate in the XII Florence Biennale, one of the most respected international exhibitions of contemporary art.
This opportunity came in 2018, with the exhibition taking place in October 2019 in Florence, Italy. It was a significant recognition of my artistic voice, placing me alongside globally acclaimed artists and giving me the chance to exhibit in one of the art world’s most historical cities.
I’d like to share the official letter with you:
Official Letter – XII Florence Biennale – Certificate of Admission and Sponsorship Request
Florence, October 8, 2018
We are pleased to announce that artist Nelson Estrada Solórzano has been selected by the International Selection Committee of the Florence Biennale to participate in the 12th edition, which will take place at the historic Fortezza da Basso from October 18 to 27, 2019. The Florence Biennale is the largest contemporary art exhibition in the city of Florence. The 11th edition, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Tuscany Region, and the Municipality of Florence, welcomed 460 artists from 72 countries and over 10,000 visitors. For the past twenty years, the Florence Biennale has offered an extraordinary multicultural and multidisciplinary experience to all participating artists. In recognition of its multicultural commitment, the Florence Biennale was included in the United Nations program “Dialogue Among Civilizations” (2001) and received sponsorship from the Italian Commission for UNESCO (2017).
Each edition, the Florence Biennale assigns the “Lorenzo il Magnifico” Award for Lifetime Achievement to individuals and institutions distinguished by their artistic merit or cultural contribution. Previous award recipients include: Marina Abramović, David Hockney, Christo & Jeanne-Claude, Gilbert & George, Anish Kapoor, and El Anatsui. All participating artists are also considered for the International “Lorenzo il Magnifico” Award, granted by an international jury to the most deserving in each artistic category. Participating artists are also eligible for artist residencies and other special awards.
The Florence Biennale welcomes support from public and private sponsors to enable artists’ participation. For this reason, we would greatly appreciate any potential support for Nelson Estrada Solórzano to attend the next edition of the Florence Biennale. The sponsor’s name and logo will appear in the official catalog and on the Biennale’s website. Additional benefits are outlined in the Sponsor Kit.
We thank you for your attention and support, and we send our best regards.
